PTPN IV collaborates with South Sumatra Police to optimise plantation asset security
PT Perkebunan Nusantara (PTPN) IV is optimising its plantation asset security system by collaborating with the South Sumatra Regional Police (Polda Sumsel) to maintain operational sustainability and support the company’s long-term productivity in the region. PTPN IV Director of Institutional Relations Arya Shandiyudha stated that strengthening institutional ties with law enforcement is an essential part of the company’s strategy to ensure business continuity. “At the same time, it ensures all operational activities run in accordance with the applicable legal corridors,” Arya said in a statement in Jakarta on Thursday. Arya, accompanied by PTPN IV Regional VII Region Head Denny Ramadhan, held an audience with South Sumatra Police Chief Inspector General Sandi Nugroho in an effort to strengthen institutional synergy and support the company’s safe and conducive operational sustainability. He conveyed that the company is strengthening collaboration, particularly in the aspects of corporate asset security, law enforcement against criminal acts within plantation areas, and support for the company’s operational sustainability in the region. “We discussed various strategic issues, especially regarding plantation asset security and efforts to maintain the operational stability of a company that plays a vital role in supporting national food security and the national economy,” he said. According to him, the relationship between PTPN IV Regional VII and Polda Sumsel has so far been well-established through various forms of coordination and communication in the field. “Moving forward, we are exploring opportunities for more structured collaboration to create a clear and comprehensive cooperation pattern,” he stated. He also noted that a primary focus of the meeting was law enforcement synergy against the criminal act of palm oil theft along with its network of collectors, which has been a persistent challenge in the plantation sector. The company is currently also strengthening its internal security system by forming an internal corporate intelligence team, which is expected to support preventive measures and law enforcement by the police. In addition to the issue of production theft, the meeting also discussed strategic steps in securing corporate assets related to land grabbing and occupation. Given that some of the operational land managed by Regional VII remains an asset of PTPN I, Arya said future coordination will involve PTPN I, PTPN IV, and Polda Sumatera Selatan jointly through the formation of a special team as a technical liaison in the field. PTPN IV Regional VII Region Head Denny Ramadhan assessed the importance of synergy with local law enforcement officials to address various strategic issues facing the company. With increasingly stronger synergy, Denny is optimistic that various challenges related to asset and production security can be handled more effectively. “The security and sustainability of the company’s operations are a shared responsibility that requires the collaboration of all stakeholders,” said Denny. Meanwhile, South Sumatra Police Chief Inspector General Sandi Nugroho welcomed the strengthened coordination measures and affirmed his readiness to support asset security and law enforcement efforts that benefit both the company and the surrounding community. According to the Police Chief, the existence of plantation companies plays a strategic role in supporting the regional and national economy, hence it needs to be supported by a conducive security and public order situation. Through this meeting, PTPN IV and Polda Sumsel affirmed a mutual commitment to continuously improve coordination and build a more effective security system to create a safe business climate in South Sumatra.
