PT Perkebranunan Nusantara III (Persero) plans to expand its business operations within the food and energy sectors to support the government’s food self-sufficiency programme. The Acting President Director of PTPN III, Iswahyudi, stated that realising this vision will require capital amounting to Rp140 trillion.

According to him, the capital expenditure (capex) for the programme, which is set to be implemented over the next five years, will be utilised for land extensification and the construction of new downstream processing plants.

“We require capex of approximately Rp140 trillion,” he said during a meeting with Commission VI of the Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR RI) in Jakarta on Monday (6/7/2026).

Iswahyudi revealed that the company is currently applying for an expansion of its status as a National Strategic Project (PSN) to the government. He noted that obtaining PSN status would facilitate easier coordination regarding regulations, governance, and long-term financing schemes, including the potential for State Capital Injections (PMN).

Based on PTPN III’s work plan, the investment will be used to add 270,000 hectares of oil palm plantations and 500,000 hectares of sugarcane plantations by 2030.

Furthermore, PTPN is expanding into new commodities with planting targets of 104,000 hectares of cassava, 200,000 hectares of soybeans, 24,000 hectares of garlic, and 4,200 hectares of maize.

In the downstream sector, the funds will be allocated to constructing three new sugar mills and green energy infrastructure. The company intends to build 10 new bioethanol plants using sugarcane, cassava, and maize, alongside the development of biodiesel and compressed biogas (CBG) facilities.
