PT Perkebunan Nusantara I (Persero) has sacrificed 304 animals for Eid al-Adha 1447 H on Wednesday, 27 May. Data shows 68 cattle and 236 goats were provided by the company and employees from the headquarters to units and subsidiaries across Indonesia, from Sumatra to Papua.

Chairman Teddy Yunirman Danas praised the enthusiasm of PTPN I personnel for this year’s kurban ritual. He stated that such high awareness reflects complete piety—obedience to God alongside social compassion. ‘The kurban ritual encompasses both divine and social dimensions. As our religion teaches, habblum minallah and hablum minannas—connection with God and with fellow humans. I highly appreciate all units and planters of PTPN I,’ he said in Jakarta.

This Eid al-Adha event represents a social commitment and corporate gratitude. Sharing kurban meat spreads joy with communities around plantation areas. For PTPN I, Eid al-Adha is more than an annual routine; it strengthens harmonious relationships between the company, staff, and residents living alongside state-owned plantation businesses.

According to Teddy, the essence of kurban is deeply tied to the culture of gotong royong (mutual cooperation), a core pillar of the company’s strength in facing industry challenges. ‘Kurban reflects sincerity and mutual cooperation. I deeply appreciate the generosity of PTPN I personnel who have set aside part of their sustenance. In the midst of industry dynamics, this spirit of sharing provides positive energy for the company’s sustainable business,’ he added.

Teddy further noted that distribution across all operational areas from west to east Indonesia demonstrates PTPN I’s inclusive presence in society. State-owned plantations must deliver tangible economic and social impacts to surrounding communities, especially during religious holidays. ‘We aim to ensure the festive joy reaches buffer villages, indigenous communities, and frontline plantation workers. This unity is the foundation of our strength for continued growth,’ he said.

In line with communal spirit, the slaughter and distribution process involves internal committees, village officials, and local community leaders to ensure smooth logistics and precise targeting of those in need.

On technical aspects, Company Secretary Aris Handoyo stated all animals undergo rigorous health and suitability checks. ‘All kurban animals, whether cattle or goats, are thoroughly inspected by relevant authorities to ensure safe, healthy, and hygienic meat for recipients,’ he said.

Aris also highlighted the religious activity is integrated into the company’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programme, serving as a pillar of social and community engagement. As a state-owned enterprise, PTPN I does not solely focus on commodity productivity but also responsibly nurtures humanistic aspects in surrounding areas. ‘PTPN I (Persero) aims to share joy with others and bring blessings for future company progress,’ he concluded.
