PTPN I Restructuring Accelerated, Danantara Says All Entities Must Be Healthy
Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia — Danantara and the State-Owned Enterprises Agency (BP BUMN) are accelerating the restructuring of PTPN I. The move aims to strengthen financial performance, reorganise the business portfolio and build a foundation for sustainable business growth.
The accelerated restructuring was discussed by BP BUMN Head and Danantara Chief Operating Officer Dony Oskaria, together with the PTPN Group board of directors, at Wisma Danantara in Jakarta on Wednesday (21 October 2026).
Dony said the restructuring of the state-owned plantation company was intended to ensure that all PTPN Group entities are financially healthy and able to develop their businesses.
He said signs of improved performance at PTPN I were already visible, with EBITDA reaching a positive Rp1.9 trillion. Synergies with PalmCo have also helped strengthen the group’s financial position.
“The point is that we want all of them to be healthy. PTPN I must be healthy, PTPN IV must be healthy, and SugarCo must be healthy, so they can expand their businesses,” Dony said in an official statement on Tuesday (27 October 2026).
Through the restructuring, BP BUMN and Danantara are encouraging PTPN Group to improve performance across all its entities, giving each company a sound financial foundation, stronger governance and the capacity for sustainable business development.
The restructuring of PTPN I will involve adjustments to assets and financing structures, as well as optimising synergies among PTPN Group entities. One approach being prepared is the use of non-cash transactions to help reduce the company’s burden, including innovative transaction or set-off arrangements.
“Strengthening investment governance is also part of the effort to ensure that every business decision is measured and supports the company’s sustainability,” he said.
Operationally, PTPN I is preparing programmes to raise productivity in key commodities, particularly rubber, tea and coffee. Business restructuring is targeted to take effect on 1 January 2027, followed by operational improvements to strengthen the company’s fundamentals and competitiveness.
Dony stressed that the reorganisation of PTPN Group must produce healthy and solid companies, rather than merely change organisational structures or ownership.
“I cannot allow any company to make a loss, because the purpose of reorganising all these companies is to make them all solid and healthy. Management performance will also be brought into line,” Dony said.
