Jakarta - PT Perkebunan Nusantara (PTPN) I has decided to resolve the criminal case of 72-year-old Mujiran through restorative justice (RJ).

PTPN I management followed the directive from the Head of the State-Owned Enterprise Regulatory Body (BP BUMN), Dony Oskaria, to halt the case.

“Through the restorative justice mechanism, we are grateful that 72-year-old Mujiran is now free and reunited with his family,” said PTPN I management in a statement on Monday, 25 May 2026.

The company also stated the need to foster awareness as an entity rooted in and serving the community.

PTPN I management also extended an apology and took moral responsibility for the case involving Mujiran, which drew public attention.

“On behalf of all PTPN management, we offer our deepest apologies to 72-year-old Mujiran, his family, and the wider public,” said PTPN I management.

Management stated that the parent company had initially requested the case be resolved amicably.

However, information dynamics on the ground moved very quickly.

“We have learned a valuable lesson that frontline officers must respond with far greater sensitivity, responsiveness, and a strict adherence to humanitarian values,” said PTPN I management.

This approach also applies to Mujiran’s case, where he was charged with hiding tapped rubber from PTPN I for sale.

PTPN I is currently providing assistance to 72-year-old Mujiran as per BP BUMN’s directive.
