PTPN I’s President Director, Teddy Yunima Danas, confirmed on Monday (25 May) that Mujiran had been released from all legal charges. The proactive decision was made after considering humanitarian aspects and deep empathy for the ground realities. ‘Alhamdulillah, today Mr Mujiran has been freed from all legal charges,’ Teddy stated in an official release. Teddy explained that this release reflects PTPN I’s commitment to implementing government strategic policies via the State-Owned Enterprise Management Agency (BP BUMN) and Danantara. Prior to this, BP BUMN Chief and Danantara COO Dony Oskaria had instructed state-owned enterprises to act as solutions for social and economic issues affecting communities. Since the conflict emerged, Teddy had instructed PTPN I’s Lampung regional management to prioritise a humanitarian resolution. The restorative justice approach is hoped to provide the fairest solution for all parties involved. Following the incident, PTPN I management is urged to refocus on supporting government programmes to create jobs, boost local economies, and implement corporate social responsibility initiatives for communities.
