PTDI Delivers Eighth NC212i Aircraft to Strengthen Indonesian Air Force

PT Dirgantara Indonesia (PTDI) has officially delivered the eighth NC212i aircraft, featuring modern German-made MTV-27 propellers, to reinforce the Indonesian Air Force’s (TNI AU) multirole primary weaponry system (alutsista).

PTDI Production Director Dena Hendriana stated that the locally assembled aircraft, configured specifically for Troop Transport, Rainmaking, and Camera operations, was flown directly via ferry flight from the PTDI Delivery Center in Bandung to Abdulrachman Saleh Air Force Base in Malang on Thursday.

“Alhamdulillah, today we are conducting a ferry flight. This is part of our commitment to deliver orders from the Indonesian Ministry of Defence. This is the 8th unit out of 9 ordered. God willing, this will strengthen the Indonesian Air Force based in Malang and serve to defend the sovereignty of the Republic of Indonesia,” Dena said in Bandung on Thursday.

He explained that the aircraft, with tail number AX-2135, is designed to be versatile for troop transport, cloud seeding or weather modification operations, and aerial photo mapping. The use of EASA-certified MTV-27 propellers combined with Honeywell TPE331 engines provides significant performance advantages, such as lower vibration and noise, stability during single-engine flight at altitude, and a smoother engine start process.

Dena Hendriana also confirmed that the delivery is part of the commitment to complete the contract for the procurement of nine NC212i units with the Indonesian Ministry of Defence. The one remaining unit under the nine-aircraft contract is scheduled for completion and delivery in October 2027.

Ferry flight Pilot in Command, Lieutenant Colonel Andika Ardyagana, who flew the aircraft alongside Co-pilot Captain Irvan Fajar, confirmed the reliability of the advanced system’s performance after it passed Flight Acceptance Certification on 9 July 2026. “Regarding the aircraft’s performance, yesterday we carried out development. Alhamdulillah, it achieved its maximum capabilities so that after the ferry flight, it can be received by the Ministry of Defence and the TNI AU. Our hope is that this aircraft will add to the TNI AU’s strength to safeguard the sovereignty of the Republic of Indonesia,” said Andika.
