PTBA Strengthens Synergy to Build Flyovers at Simpang Belimbing and Ujan Mas for Public Safety

PT Bukit Asam (Persero) Tbk (PTBA), in collaboration with the Provincial Government of South Sumatra and stakeholders, is strengthening synergy for the construction of flyovers at the level crossings of JPL 99 Simpang Belimbing and JPL 111 Ujan Mas in Muara Enim Regency. This commitment was formalised through the signing of a Cooperation Agreement (PKS) to ensure the development proceeds transparently and accountably. PTBA President Director Bambang Ismawan stated that the construction of the two flyovers is a strategic measure to enhance public safety, reduce the potential for accidents at level crossings, and support the smooth mobility of residents and the operational transport of coal trains in South Sumatra. PTBA views the flyover construction as part of the company’s responsibility to create safe infrastructure that provides long-term benefits for the community. “The construction of the flyovers at JPL 99 Simpang Belimbing and JPL 111 Ujan Mas is not merely an infrastructure project, but a manifestation of PTBA’s social responsibility in safeguarding the public who frequently traverse areas with coal train transport activity. Through the signing of this Cooperation Agreement, we affirm our commitment to carrying out the construction with transparent and accountable governance,” he said. For the JPL 99 Simpang Belimbing flyover, the construction design has been refined from the initial plan to a new design with a span length of approximately 654 metres and a total width of 12.5 metres. The design enhancement utilises reliable materials to meet long-term traffic needs while improving safety aspects for road users. Meanwhile, PTBA is also committed to supporting the completion of the flyover construction at JPL 111 Ujan Mas through the same mechanisms and governance. Bambang added that the success of building both flyovers depends not only on funding support and technical aspects but also on close collaboration and coordination among all parties involved. “We invite all parties to continue maintaining the synergy and coordination that has been well established so that the construction implementation runs smoothly. We hope the presence of these flyovers will provide optimal benefits for the people of Muara Enim Regency and South Sumatra in general,” Bambang added. On the same occasion, South Sumatra Governor Herman Deru appreciated the collaboration between PTBA, the government, and all stakeholders in realising infrastructure development that directly impacts the community. “The construction of these flyovers is a tangible form of synergy between the government and the business sector in delivering infrastructure that improves safety and facilitates public mobility. I hope all parties continue to maintain their commitment and coordination so that this project can be completed according to plan, allowing the benefits to be immediately felt by the people of South Sumatra, especially Muara Enim Regency,” Herman explained. The construction of the flyovers at JPL 99 Simpang Belimbing and JPL 111 Ujan Mas is expected to be a long-term solution for improving safety in level crossing areas while supporting regional connectivity and community activities. PTBA will continue to prioritise collaboration in delivering sustainable development, not only to support the company’s operational activities but also to provide safe spaces for the public to carry out their daily lives.
