PT Bukit Asam Tbk (PTBA) has secured a funding commitment from state-owned banks (Himbara) worth Rp 3.56 trillion through a senior term loan.

The funds are allocated to accelerate work on a number of strategic projects, particularly the construction of mining infrastructure and the strengthening of the company’s logistics systems.

PTBA’s Finance and Risk Management Director, Una Lindasari, explained that strengthening infrastructure forms part of the company’s strategy to improve business efficiency and competitiveness.

She assured that the funding will support the integration of the coal logistics system so it can meet customer needs optimally.

“PTBA has also obtained a funding commitment through term sheets with Himbara banks for a senior term loan facility of Rp 3.56 trillion,” she revealed during PTBA’s online Public Expose on Monday (7/9/2026).

She explained that the main focus of the funds is to complete the Tanjung Enim-Kramasan project, whose physical progress has now reached 93%. In addition, PTBA is building a coal handling facility (CHF) as well as train loading station TLS 67 to bolster coal transport and loading capacity along that distribution route.

“We continue to accelerate the development of the Tanjung Enim-Kramasan project along with the CHF and TLS 67 facilities so that the coal logistics system becomes increasingly integrated and able to support customer needs optimally,” she said.

This supply chain strengthening provides the foundation for PTBA to maintain smooth operations amid the production target set in its Work Plan and Budget (RKAB) of 53 million tonnes for this year. The company is also preparing to face the changing energy landscape through the development of a more diversified business portfolio, including downstream processing and renewable energy.

“Strengthening infrastructure is part of our strategy to improve business efficiency and competitiveness,” she concluded.

PTBA’s First-Half 2026 Performance

In the first half of 2026, PTBA booked revenue of Rp 22.03 trillion, up 8% year-on-year. Meanwhile, the company’s net profit reached Rp 2.65 trillion, growing 218% year-on-year. The performance was supported by operational recovery in the second quarter, stronger export sales, and improved average coal selling prices.

Operationally, PTBA recorded coal production of 19.45 million tonnes and sales of 21.10 million tonnes.

Export sales reached 10.33 million tonnes, rising around 5% compared with the same period last year, with the largest export destinations being Vietnam, Bangladesh, Cambodia, India and Thailand. Meanwhile, domestic sales stood at 10.77 million tonnes, or around 51% of total sales.

Strengthening coal prices also contributed positively to the company’s performance. In the first half of 2026, the Newcastle Index rose 25% year-on-year and ICI-3 climbed 15% year-on-year, driving a 10% year-on-year increase in PTBA’s average selling price (ASP). This supported the improvement in the company’s revenue and profitability amid fluctuations in production and sales volumes.
