PT Vale Facilitates Halal Certification for Morowali SMEs
Morowali, Central Sulawesi (ANTARA) – PT Vale Indonesia Tbk is facilitating halal certification for micro, small and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs) in Morowali Regency, Central Sulawesi, to improve product competitiveness and broaden market access.
“MSMEs play a strategic role in driving the community’s economy. Through this programme, we want to help local businesses improve their products’ competitiveness by meeting the legal requirements demanded by the market,” PT Vale Indonesia Head of External Regional & Growth Endra Kusuma said in Morowali on Wednesday.
He said strengthening MSME capacity was one way to promote economic growth among communities near the company’s operating area.
The programme is being carried out in collaboration with the Morowali MSME Community and the Halal Inspection Agency (LPH) Centre at Tadulako University.
It targets MSMEs participating in the Sustainable Environmentally Friendly Healthy Agriculture (PSRLB) programme and the Community-Based Health Efforts (UKBM) Herbal programme in areas supported by the company.
He said the initiative forms part of the Community Development and Empowerment (PPM) programme, implemented through the Morowali Indonesia Growth Project (IGP).
“Halal certification not only increases consumer confidence, but also creates greater opportunities for MSMEs to grow,” he said.
Participants received information on halal standards and requirements, business data tracing, and assistance with the certification application process.
Verification teams also visited MSMEs’ production sites to ensure that their product-processing methods complied with applicable halal standards.
He said the guidance was expected to help MSMEs meet halal certification requirements, secure more complete business credentials and improve their prospects of reaching wider markets.
Meanwhile, Bungku Timur sub-district Family Welfare Movement (PKK) chair Zaenab Arsan said assistance with halal certification was an important step towards improving product quality and expanding local business opportunities.
“We appreciate Vale Indonesia’s support in continuing to assist MSMEs through various development programmes,” she said.
She said the initiative was an important step towards improving the quality and competitiveness of local businesses, enabling them to grow more independently and sustainably.
