PT Vale Collaborates with Luwu Timur's Forkopimda to Accelerate Regional Progress
Amid the dynamics of regional development with demands for transparent, inclusive, and sustainable governance, collaboration between the business world and regional stakeholders is crucial.
In response to this context, PT Vale Indonesia Tbk (PT Vale), part of the MIND ID group, together with the Regional Leadership Coordination Forum (Forkopimda) of East Luwu Regency, South Sulawesi Province, utilised the Halalbihalal momentum as a strategic space to strengthen synergy and align roles.
This collaboration is not only important in maintaining the stability and effectiveness of company operations but also serves as a joint foundation in accelerating competitive and sustainable regional development.
Attendees included the Head of the East Luwu District Prosecutor’s Office, Berthy Oktavianes Zakarias Huliselan, the Chair of the Malili Religious Court, Rajiman, and members of the Forkopimda in Sorowako, on Friday (17/4/2026).
PT Vale Indonesia Tbk’s Director and Chief Sustainability and Corporate Affairs Officer, Budiawansyah, stated that over 57 years of operations, PT Vale’s good performance has been thanks to the prayers and support from government and community stakeholders.
This synergy will open greater opportunities for long-term investment realisation, which directly impacts the increase in Regional Original Revenue (PAD) and regional economic stability.
Budiawansyah said that PT Vale’s presence is about building a shared future. The company’s investments will continue to drive the transformation of East Luwu through increased regional revenue and community empowerment.
Irwan Bachri Syam stated that over five decades, PT Vale has provided numerous benefits to regional development.
“Our region is like holding a 2.5 percent stake in PT Vale. Every year, the profits flow into regional revenue. Therefore, if there are aspirations, do not resort to protests lightly. The government is ready to bridge the interests of the community with PT Vale’s management,” he said in his remarks.
He concluded his speech with a statement of support for all of PT Vale’s plans to preserve the environment and empower the community in East Luwu, particularly in four empowerment areas in Sorowako, Wawondula, Wasuponda, and Malili.
Robust Performance for Broader Regional Contributions
Amid global market dynamics, PT Vale has demonstrated operational resilience by recording a net profit of US$76.1 million in 2025, an increase of 32 percent compared to the previous year.
Several programmes initiated by the company, such as certified skills training to enhance the capacity of the local workforce, ensure that local children become the main actors in industrial operations. As well as providing scholarships to more than 1,000 students.
Not only contributing to the increase in Regional Original Revenue (PAD), PT Vale is also actively promoting inclusive economic empowerment through strengthening UMKM capacity and socio-ecological resilience of communities around operational areas in accordance with Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources Regulation Number 1824 K/30/MEM/2018 on Guidelines for the Implementation of Community Development and Empowerment (PPM).
This step reflects the strategic vision that industrial growth must align with environmental recovery, ensuring that East Luwu’s ecological heritage remains preserved for future generations.
Through strengthening harmonious relations with the Local Government and communities, PT Vale is optimistic about facing future global challenges.
This collaboration is not just about maintaining current operations but about building an inclusive, environmentally friendly development legacy that provides long-term benefits for the entire East Luwu community.
