PT Vale Indonesia Tbk’s Director and Chief Sustainability and Corporate Affairs Officer, Budiawansyah, on this occasion, stated that over 57 years of operations, PT Vale has achieved good performance thanks to the prayers and support from government and community stakeholders.

Support from the Regent, DPRD, TNI, and Police has become a crucial factor in ensuring strategic projects run according to targets. This synergy will open up greater space for the realisation of long-term investments, which directly impact the increase in Regional Original Revenue (PAD) and regional economic stability.

Budiawansyah said that PT Vale’s presence is about building a shared future. The company’s investments will continue to be the driving engine for the transformation of East Luwu through increased regional revenue and community empowerment.

At this moment, the East Luwu Regent also expressed his gratitude because the company continues to strive to maintain ties with the government and community.

Irwan Bachri Syam said that over five decades, PT Vale has provided numerous benefits for regional development.

“Our region is like holding a 2.5% stake in PT Vale. Every year, its profits flow into regional revenue. Therefore, if there are aspirations, do not resort to demonstrations lightly. The government is ready to bridge the interests of the community with PT Vale’s management,” he stated in his speech.

The East Luwu Regent also recounted that thanks to good cooperation between the company, government, and community, this year the Old Camp land dispute case in Sorowako could be resolved with a good agreement for all parties.

He concluded his speech with a statement of support for all of PT Vale’s plans for environmental preservation and community empowerment in East Luwu, particularly in the four empowerment areas in Sorowako, Wawondula, Wasuponda, and Malili.

Resilient Performance for Broader Regional Contributions

Amid global market dynamics, PT Vale has demonstrated the resilience of its operations by recording a net profit of US$76.1 million in 2025, an increase of 32% compared to the previous year. This positive growth serves as strategic capital for the company to contribute more and be part of the solution in accelerating regional progress.

Several programmes initiated by the company, such as certified skills training to enhance the capacity of the local workforce to ensure that the region’s children become the main actors in industrial operations. As well as providing scholarships to more than 1,000 students.

Not only contributing to the increase in Regional Original Revenue (PAD), PT Vale is also actively promoting inclusive economic empowerment through strengthening UMKM capacities and socio-ecological resilience of communities around operational areas in accordance with Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources Decree Number 1824 K/30/MEM/2018 on Guidelines for the Implementation of Community Development and Empowerment (PPM).

This step reflects the strategic vision that industrial growth must align with environmental recovery, ensuring that East Luwu’s ecological legacy remains preserved for future generations.

Through strengthening harmonious relations with the Local Government and community, PT Vale is optimistic about facing future global challenges. This collaboration is not only about maintaining current operations but about building an inclusive, environmentally friendly development legacy that provides long-term benefits for the entire East Luwu community.
