Pangkalpinang (ANTARA) - PT Timah (Persero) Tbk has set up a health post for victims of a fire in Serdang Hamlet, Jelutung 2 Village, South Bangka Regency, Bangka Belitung Islands Province, to make it easier for them to receive free medical check-ups.

“The free health services are intended to help safeguard residents’ health amid the conditions in the area following the fire,” PT Timah Tbk Corporate Communications Department Head Anggi Siahaan said in Pangkalpinang on Friday.

She said PT Timah set up the free health-service post on Thursday (15 October) at the fire victims’ evacuation centre at State Elementary School 7 in Simpang Rimba, South Bangka Regency.

“PT Timah has coordinated with the local government and relevant parties to accelerate post-fire recovery in Serdang Hamlet,” she said.

South Bangka Regency Secretary Hefi Nuranda expressed appreciation for PT Timah’s support for residents affected by the fire in Serdang Hamlet.

“The fire destroyed 348 houses and affected 1,578 people. We hope all parties will continue to work together to support recovery from this major disaster,” he said.
