PT Sumire Smile Aceh Officially Resumes Operations with Ecological Commitment
A fresh breeze is blowing through Aceh’s investment climate. After a temporary halt, Sumire Smile Indonesia is making a comeback through its new entity, PT Sumire Smile Aceh.
This company, which operates in the production of wood chips, officially marked its operations at an inauguration ceremony held at the company’s operational building on Jl. Laksamana Malahayati KM 19, Durung Village, Mesjid Raya Subdistrict, Aceh Besar Regency, on Thursday (09/04/2026).
The inauguration ceremony proceeded solemnly with a joint prayer attended by various elements of the community and local government.
Those present at the inauguration included all village apparatus, the Muspika of Mesjid Raya Subdistrict, the Mukim Imam, and the Tuha Peut of Durung Village.
The presence of these community figures signifies moral support and new hopes for the investment ecosystem in the area.
The President Director of PT Sumire Smile Aceh, Wan Wahyu Ramadhan, recounted the company’s investment journey in his speech.
He acknowledged that Sumire Smile’s investment in Indonesia had previously faced obstacles and halted due to issues with local company partners deemed untrustworthy in maintaining Aceh’s investment climate. However, past failures have not deterred the company’s steps.
“Now, Sumire Smile Indonesia is rising again with its new group, Sumire Smile Aceh. We are once again interested and fully committed to investing in wood chips production in the land of the flying crane,” emphasised Wan Wahyu Ramadhan.
On this occasion, Wan Wahyu also conveyed the company’s vision and great hopes for the future.
“I hope the Sumire Smile Group can run successfully by synergising with the government and all layers of society. We want to promote the name of Indonesia, and particularly Aceh, abroad through high-quality exports. In addition, our presence must provide real contributions to improving the economy for the local community,” he stated.
As a tangible form of commitment to ecosystem sustainability, the inauguration was not only marked by a ribbon-cutting ceremony but also filled with environmental conservation actions.
The company, together with the community, symbolically planted acacia and kaliandra tree seedlings. This action serves as the company’s manifesto that their industrial activities will go hand in hand with a commitment to preserving the natural ecology.
“With our return here, PT Sumire Smile Aceh hopes to be accepted again by the wider community. We are determined to keep moving forward, ensuring this investment runs well, sustainably, and provides the greatest possible benefits for the welfare of Aceh’s people,” concluded Wan Wahyu Ramadhan.
In response to the inauguration of PT Sumire Smile Aceh’s production facilities, the Special Advisor to the Governor of Aceh for Investment and Foreign Relations, Teuku Emi Syamsyumi (Abu Salam), gave a positive response and high appreciation.
In his statement, Abu Salam warmly welcomed the return of the Sumire Smile Group’s investment to Aceh as an important momentum for the recovery and strengthening of the regional economy.
“The Aceh Government certainly welcomes the comeback of the Sumire Smile Group through PT Sumire Smile Aceh with open arms. The fact that they choose to reinvest here proves that Aceh still has a very competitive investment appeal in the natural resources sector, particularly wood chips commodities for global market needs,” said Abu Salam.
Regarding the company’s bitter experience with local partners in the past, Abu Salam emphasised that the Aceh Government is currently committed to creating a conducive, transparent investment climate and providing legal certainty for investors.
“Let us use past experiences as a joint evaluation. Going forward, collaboration between Foreign Capital Investors (PMA) or Domestic Capital Investors (PMDN) with local entrepreneurs must be based on high professionalism and integrity.
The government will continue to oversee so that every investment that enters is truly safe, protected, and brings a multiplier effect for regional economic growth,” he asserted.
Furthermore, Abu Salam also appreciated the environmental conservation initiative carried out by PT Sumire Smile Aceh on the inauguration day.
“This symbolic step of planting acacia and kaliandra seedlings is very much in line with the Aceh Government’s vision regarding green investment. We are not only pursuing massive economic growth and job creation but also demanding that every corporation be ecologically responsible.
