PT SMI Disburses Rp175.84 Billion for Infrastructure Development in Bali
Jakarta (ANTARA) - PT Sarana Multi Infrastruktur (Persero), or SMI, has signed two infrastructure financing agreements with the Gianyar and Klungkung Regency Governments in Bali, with a total value of Rp175.84 billion.
The funds will be used by both regional governments to build infrastructure and improve public services, ranging from roads and health facilities to school revitalisation, as part of SMI’s efforts to support sustainable regional development.
SMI’s Director of Public Financing and Project Development, Faaris Pranawa, said that the development needs of each region differ, and the regional loan scheme is designed to be sufficiently flexible to address the needs of each respective region.
“The infrastructure we finance is not merely a physical asset. This financing support is part of PT SMI’s commitment to safeguarding regional development in Bali, and we want its impact to be genuinely felt, both in public services and the local economy. Going forward, we hope more regional governments will take advantage of this scheme to accelerate their priority projects,” said Faaris in his statement in Jakarta on Wednesday.
The Klungkung Regency Government obtained a regional loan facility worth Rp68.6 billion with a four-year tenor. The funds will be used for road construction, strengthening health facilities, organising residential areas, and supporting facilities for tourism as the region’s leading sector.
These projects are estimated to absorb 367 local workers, with almost all raw materials sourced domestically.
Klungkung Regent I Made Satria welcomed the cooperation.
“The financing support from PT SMI gives us more optimal fiscal space to accelerate priority projects. Most importantly for us, the results must truly be felt by the community, from better public services to a stronger tourism sector,” said I Made Satria.
The cooperation is not the first of its kind. Since 2021, SMI and the Klungkung Regency Government have established financing cooperation worth Rp62.18 billion, used to repair several regency roads and strengthen health facilities.
For the Gianyar Regency Government, SMI disbursed a regional loan facility worth Rp107.24 billion to revitalise 131 schools spread across seven districts.
The programme covers light to heavy rehabilitation of school buildings, plus the provision of facilities such as libraries and computer laboratories at schools in need.
The revitalisation is targeted to reach more than 60,000 students in Gianyar Regency.
SMI also expects the project to boost the local economy, both during the construction period and after the schools resume operations.
Gianyar Regent I Made Agus Mahayastra said SMI’s financing is a strategic step to improve the quality of educational infrastructure in his region.
“Education is a long-term investment for regional development. With PT SMI’s support, we can accelerate the revitalisation of schools, creating a more decent learning environment for both students and teaching staff. We hope this can drive the quality of Gianyar’s human resources in the future,” said Mahayastra.
The cooperation complements SMI’s series of support to Gianyar, which previously included financing for a sports building (GOR), Building C of the government centre, and several regency roads.
Support to Gianyar and Klungkung adds to SMI’s track record in supporting development across various regions in Bali.
Previously, SMI had also disbursed financing to the Karangasem, Tabanan, Bangli and Badung Regency Governments, as well as the Bali Provincial Government, with an effective commitment of Rp5.43 trillion.
As a special mission vehicle (SMV) under the Ministry of Finance, SMI continues to carry out its national development mandate through sustainable infrastructure financing.
Through the regional loan scheme, SMI supports the implementation of the government’s Astacita whilst helping regional governments expand their fiscal space to deliver better public services.
As of May 2026, the total regional financing commitment disbursed by SMI has reached Rp37.41 trillion, with an outstanding amount of Rp14.03 trillion.
