PT Sang Hyang Seri and PT Pupuk Indonesia Niaga Establish Rice Seed Distribution Partnership
PT Sang Hyang Seri (SHS), a member of Holding Pangan ID FOOD, has formally established a strategic partnership with PT Pupuk Indonesia Niaga (PI Niaga), a member of Holding Pupuk Indonesia.
The partnership was formalised through the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on Rice Seed Distributor Designation, held at PT Sang Hyang Seri’s seed conference room in Jakarta on Monday, 2 March. The ceremony was attended by PT Sang Hyang Seri Chief Executive Officer Adhi Cahyono Nugroho and PT Pupuk Indonesia Niaga Chief Executive Officer Trudo HD, along with commercial directors and relevant staff from both organisations.
The collaboration aims to create mutually beneficial business synergies by leveraging each company’s core competencies. As Indonesia’s national seed producer, PT Sang Hyang Seri will provide quality seeds, whilst PT Pupuk Indonesia Niaga will optimise its distribution and trading networks.
PT Sang Hyang Seri Chief Executive Officer Adhi Cahyono Nugroho stated that the collaboration represents a concrete step towards integrating the potential of fellow SOE subsidiaries. “With distribution support from PI Niaga, we are confident that SHS superior seeds can reach farmers more broadly and punctually, supporting national agricultural productivity,” he said.
PT Pupuk Indonesia Niaga Chief Executive Officer Trudo HD welcomed the partnership as a joint effort to strengthen the trading business line. “In our role as a distributor, we ensure the availability of quality rice seeds in the market is maintained, ultimately delivering added value to farmers,” he said.
Trudo emphasised that the collaboration is more than a business transaction but rather the unification of companies handling the agricultural ecosystem. “SHS focuses on seed genetic quality, whilst PI Niaga ensures its accessibility. This is an end-to-end solution for Indonesian farmers,” he explained.
Trudo added that PI Niaga would bring its distribution infrastructure and commercial experience to ensure superior rice seeds from SHS are available punctually and in the right locations. This inter-Holding SOE synergy is key to the efficiency of the national food supply chain.
Both parties agreed that exploration of collaboration opportunities will be based on good faith, compliance with applicable laws, and the application of good corporate governance principles. Through this partnership, PT Sang Hyang Seri and PT Pupuk Indonesia Niaga are committed to contributing to Indonesian agricultural development whilst strengthening the SOE sector as a pillar of food security.
