PT Sahid International to manage Sanghyang Hotel

JAKARTA (JP): PT Sahid International Hotel Management and Consultants of the Sahid Group has increased its hotel portfolio to 21 by signing a management contract with PT Bina Wahana Pusaka, which owns Sanghyang Hotel and Resort in Anyer, West Java.

The hotel, which opened in 1987, has 76 bungalows and 22 standard rooms, a swimming pool and other sport facilities.

The hotel is located on a 10-hectare plot, 10 kilometers from the industrial city of Cilegon, and 128 kilometers from Jakarta.

Baron Indrajaja of Bina Wahana said that since its opening, the hotel had attracted foreign visitors.

"The hotel's average occupancy rate is 80 percent. Some of the bungalows are occupied by long-staying guests who stay for years," he said.

He said the hotel had to be managed professionally as the Anyer area had been developed into one of the country's prime tourist destinations, with a wide range of hotels operated by international chains.

He admitted that his company had been approached by overseas hotel operators. "But I think Sahid is the most appropriate company to manage and run the hotel. I also think that we can easily discuss everything with the owner and top executives of Sahid."

Yanti S. Hardjoprakoso of Sahid said yesterday that under the five-year operation deal, her company expected to refurbish the hotel next year so it could be categorized as a three-star hotel from its current two-star classification.

Sahid will operate 25 hotels in Indonesia and two in Saudi Arabia by next year. Nine of the hotels are owned by other companies. (icn)
