JAKARTA - PT Putraprima Mineral Mandiri (PMM) has denied allegations of smuggling hazardous and radioactive minerals via the export of 15 containers from Batam, Riau Islands.

Legal counsel Poltak Silitonga stated the company visited the Attorney General’s Office to submit various permits, including industrial business licenses, Environmental Management and Monitoring Efforts (UKL-UPL) documents, Mining Business License (IUP) for production operations, Work and Budget Plan (RKAB), and Export Approval (PE) from the Ministry of Trade. Customs-related documents for the 15 containers under scrutiny were also presented.

‘We came here to refute and reject these allegations. The accusations are defamatory, baseless, and highly damaging to our company,’ Silitonga said at the Bundar Building in Jakarta on Friday (29 May 2026).

He disputed claims of radioactive content in the exported materials, citing Sucofindo’s test results as not indicating such presence. Silitonga also criticised earlier press conferences for misleading the public, noting that TNI Chief of Staff Lieutenant General Richard Tampubolon received incorrect information.

‘If our goods contained radioactive or hazardous materials, Sucofindo and Customs would not have issued their approvals. It’s straightforward as both are government entities,’ he added.

Meanwhile, Barita Simanjuntak, spokesperson for the Forest Clearing Task Force (PKH), affirmed that the Indonesian Navy’s investigative team operated professionally using authentic material test results.

‘The Navy’s investigative team operated professionally using authentic material test results,’ Barita told Kompas.com on Friday.
