PT Pindad Builds Ammunition Factory with 85 Million Rounds Annual Capacity in Batulicin

The Indonesian Minister of Defence has led the groundbreaking ceremony for the construction of a PT Pindad ammunition factory in Batulicin, Tanah Bumbu Regency, South Kalimantan. The development of this production facility is part of the government’s effort to strengthen the independence of the national defence industry while enhancing the sustainability of defence logistics support. The factory is projected to produce 85 million rounds of NATO-standard ammunition per year. The event was attended by the Vice Chief of the Indonesian National Armed Forces, General Tandyo Budi Revita, President Director of PT Pindad Sigit P. Santosa, and businessman Andi Syamsuddin Arsyad, also known as Haji Isam. PT Pindad’s President Director explained that strengthening the domestic defence industry is one of the government’s strategic priorities, aimed at supporting an independent, modern, and sustainable national defence capability. The Defence Minister expressed appreciation to all parties who supported the realisation of the project, including PT Pindad, the TNI, and local government. He stated that synergy between the government, industry, and all stakeholders is a crucial foundation for accelerating the strengthening of the national defence industry ecosystem. Beyond supporting the country’s defence interests, the construction of the ammunition factory is expected to have a positive impact on regional development through increased economic activity, job creation, human resource development, and the growth of various supporting sectors in South Kalimantan.
