PT Pegadaian (Persero), in collaboration with the Indonesian Association of Obstetrics and Gynaecology (POGI), has launched the ‘Merdeka Stunting 2026’ programme, titled “From Pregnant Mothers, Everything Becomes Important”. This programme represents a joint commitment to supporting public health and the development of human resource quality. The initiative, which focuses on preventing stunting from the early stages of pregnancy, is scheduled to take place throughout the month of Indonesia’s Independence, from 1 to 31 August 2026.

Preventing stunting is a crucial step that must begin during the early period of pregnancy. Health conditions, daily nutritional fulfillment, and guaranteed access to medical services for pregnant women are the primary determinants of a child’s future growth and development quality. Through this programme, Pegadaian and POGI aim to reach 1,080 pregnant women spread across 36 cities in Indonesia, involving POGI branches in each region to provide essential services, ranging from free pregnancy ultrasounds to consultations with obstetrician-gynaecologists.

The Director of Network & Operations of PT Pegadaian (Persero), Eka Pebriansyah, stated that this collaboration is a form of corporate social responsibility that directly addresses the root of community nutritional needs, particularly for maternal and child health.

“The health of pregnant women is the fundamental foundation for producing a healthy, strong, and high-quality next generation of the nation. Through Pegadaian’s operational network spread throughout Indonesia, we are committed to being directly present with the spirit of ‘Serving with All Our Heart’ to accompany the community. The Merdeka Stunting 2026 programme ensures that pregnant women receive access to comprehensive medical examinations without cost constraints, because the best prevention for stunting must begin while the foetus is still in the womb,” said Eka.

Throughout the month-long implementation of the programme across 36 cities, locations include Banda Aceh, Deli Serdang, Solok, Pekanbaru, Batam, Jambi, Bengkulu, Palembang, Pangkalpinang, Bandar Lampung, Kubu Raya, Banjarmasin, Balikpapan, Tarakan, Palangka Raya, Manado, Gorontalo, Palu, Jayapura, Ternate, Sorong, Jeneponto, Kendari, Ambon, Buleleng, West Lombok, South Central Timor, Central Jakarta, Tangerang, Bandung, Tegal, Sukoharjo, Banyumas, Gunungkidul, Surabaya, and Malang.

Beneficiary pregnant women will receive a series of holistic healthcare services free of charge, including:
