Surabaya (ANTARA) - PT PAL Indonesia has successfully recorded various strategic achievements that strengthen its position as the National Consolidator for the national maritime industry, thus becoming a symbol of the nation’s self-reliance in building sea power and the domestic industry.

“PT PAL has grown from a national shipyard into one of the strategic forces in the maritime and defence industry in the region,” said the President Director of PT PAL Indonesia, Kaharuddin Djenod, in Surabaya on Wednesday.

Kaharuddin stated that these achievements were attained as PT PAL Indonesia enters its 46th year on 15 April 2026.

He mentioned that at the global level, PT PAL is increasingly strengthening its position through international cooperation with various countries and strategic partners in Southeast Asia, West Asia, Africa, and Europe.

Several opportunities for export cooperation, technology transfers, and joint industrial developments continue to be explored to expand PT PAL’s role as a global player from Indonesia.

According to him, over 46 years, PT PAL has proven that Indonesia is capable of building a proud maritime and defence industry.

Nevertheless, he reminded that the journey is not yet complete amid ongoing global challenges and geopolitical dynamics.

In addition, he continued, the need for new technology demands that PT PAL continuously transform, strengthen innovation, and expand its role at the international level.

He said that in the future, PT PAL will continue to focus on strengthening defence industry independence, increasing production capacity, shipyard digitalisation, developing green shipyards, and enhancing research and innovation based on future technologies.

PT PAL also targets increasing export contributions, strengthening international cooperation, and building a more integrated national maritime industrial ecosystem.

To date, Kaharuddin said, PT PAL has been part of Indonesia’s journey in safeguarding the seas, strengthening defence, and national connectivity.

“In the future, PT PAL will continue to step further, bringing innovation, expanding cooperation, and ensuring that the national maritime industry can stand shoulder to shoulder with global players,” he stated.
