Surabaya (ANTARA) - PT PAL Indonesia has entered into a cooperation agreement for the development of maritime-based energy power plants with a Russian company, while accompanying the working visit of the Coordinating Minister for Infrastructure and Regional Development, Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono, to Russia.

Coordinating Minister for Infrastructure and Regional Development, Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono, stated that the involvement of PT PAL Indonesia as a national maritime industry can strengthen bilateral cooperation, particularly in the development of infrastructure and maritime connectivity.

“This visit emphasises the importance of strengthening cooperation in the development of integrated maritime infrastructure and connectivity, including the integration of multi-modal transport to support national economic growth,” said Minister Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono in a statement received in Surabaya on Monday.

Meanwhile, the Production Director of PT PAL Indonesia, Diana Rosa, explained that the company’s involvement in the Indonesia-Russia bilateral forum, held from 30 May to 1 June 2026, serves as a strategic step to expand international cooperation networks.

“This collaboration is also part of the company’s efforts to keep pace with global technological developments and to strengthen the competitiveness of the national maritime industry,” she said.

According to her, PT PAL, along with the Indonesian delegation, also visited several shipyard facilities and electric ferry vessels in Russia to study technological advancements, innovations, and best practices in transport development.

This strategic move was further formalised through the signing of a Non-Disclosure Agreement (NDA) between PT PAL Indonesia and Ak Bars Shipbuilding Corporation.

She added that the agreement between the two companies covers the exchange of information and documents related to potential cooperation for both commercial vessels and special-purpose vessels.

Furthermore, PT PAL remains open to collaborating with various international partners to support the development of a sustainable global maritime industry.

“Participation in this forum serves as evidence of the company’s readiness to adopt global technological developments and to strengthen PT PAL’s strategic role within the national shipbuilding ecosystem,” she concluded.
