The partnership was highlighted during Danish Ambassador Sten Frimodt Nielsen’s visit to PT PAL’s main shipyard in Surabaya on Tuesday.

“The collaboration between PT PAL and Denmark is built on a strong historical foundation,” PT PAL Technology and Risk Management Director Briljan Gazalba said.

He said the partnership is exemplified by the Arrowhead 140 program, which is based on Denmark’s OMT-designed Iver Huitfeldt-class frigate.

PT PAL has adapted the design into Indonesia’s Merah Putih-class frigate, strengthening domestic naval production through technology transfer and local engineering expertise.

Briljan said the cooperation extends beyond ship design to include key manufacturing components, with several PT PAL vessels incorporating advanced Danish maritime technology.

Nielsen welcomed PT PAL’s industrial modernization and praised the company’s growing shipbuilding capabilities.

“Denmark is proud that its maritime expertise and technology can contribute to these outstanding products,” Nielsen said.

The Danish delegation toured PT PAL’s production facilities and reviewed progress on several strategic international defense projects.

Among them was the Landing Dock Philippines #1 vessel for the Philippine Navy, which remains on schedule for launch by the end of June 2026.
