PT PAL commits to involving local partners in fulfilling ship orders

Surabaya, East Java (ANTARA) - PT PAL Indonesia President Director Kaharuddin Djenod has stated the company’s commitment to always involving local industries and partners in working on ship orders, both domestic and international. “Yes, we have a commitment to building a maritime industry ecosystem so that in any project we continue to make improvements, growing and giving birth to domestic industries that can directly contribute,” he said in Surabaya on Wednesday. Kaharuddin cited the involvement of hundreds of local partners when PT PAL worked on the Future Landing Dock (LD)-603 warship ordered by the Philippine Navy. He explained that local partners assisted PT PAL in producing the components needed in the production process of the warship. According to him, this step is part of PT PAL Indonesia’s effort to boost the Domestic Component Level in every ship it produces. “We are assisted and they (local partners) are capable of producing the required components. We will continue to make improvements until the TKDN level becomes high,” Kaharuddin said. In addition to the LD-603 warship, which was completed in just six months, PT PAL has also built two Strategic Sealift Vessels (SSV), a number of Landing Craft Utility (LCU), and completed the Maintenance, Repair, and Overhaul (MRO) project for the BRP Tarlac-601. Kaharuddin added that PT PAL will also build the second unit of the warship for the Philippine Navy. “We are committed to maintaining customer trust by delivering high-quality products,” he said. Flag Officer in Command of the Philippine Navy, Vice Admiral Jose Ma Ambrosio Q. Ezpeleta, said the ships produced by PT PAL Indonesia significantly help the Philippine Navy transport personnel, equipment, and logistics across the archipelago. He added that these vessels will also provide greater flexibility in supporting amphibious operations, maritime security operations, as well as humanitarian assistance and disaster relief missions. “This important milestone would not have been realised without the support of our partner, PT PAL Indonesia, which has demonstrated high expertise and commitment to quality in realising this project,” said Ezpeleta.
