PT PAL and BRIN Strengthen Hydrodynamic Technology Through Research Collaboration
Surabaya, East Java (ANTARA) - PT PAL Indonesia and the National Research and Innovation Agency (BRIN) are to develop hydrodynamics technology that will support the enhancement of the national shipbuilding industry’s capabilities through a research collaboration.
The commitment was marked by the signing of a Non-Disclosure Agreement (NDA), which will serve as the basis for PT PAL Indonesia and BRIN to exchange information, hold technical discussions, and explore various research and development programmes requiring the protection of strategic information.
“Mastery of technology is the key to strengthening the competitiveness of the national maritime industry,” said Briljan Gazalba, Director of Technology and Risk Management at PT PAL Indonesia, in a statement issued in Surabaya on Saturday.
Briljan said mastery of hydrodynamics technology plays an important role in improving the performance, efficiency, and reliability of maritime platforms, including underwater utilisation technology.
Therefore, he said, the collaboration with BRIN is a strategic step to strengthen mastery of hydrodynamics and underwater systems technology, while accelerating the emergence of innovations that enhance national industrial competitiveness.
In addition, Briljan said the collaboration between PT PAL and BRIN can reflect the implementation of the Triple Helix model, oriented towards creating sustainable innovation, improving industrial competitiveness, and strengthening the national research and innovation ecosystem.
Meanwhile, Dadan Moh Nurjaman, BRIN’s Deputy for Research and Innovation Infrastructure, viewed the collaboration with PT PAL as part of efforts to strengthen the utilisation of national research outcomes for strategic industrial needs, while supporting the realisation of Indonesia’s technological self-reliance.
“Synergy with PT PAL is expected to accelerate the development of competitive maritime technology and support the nation’s self-reliance,” said Dadan.
