PT PAL and BRIN Strengthen Hydrodynamic Technology Through Research Collaboration
Surabaya, East Java - PT PAL Indonesia and the National Research and Innovation Agency (BRIN) are collaborating on research to develop hydrodynamic technology that will support the enhancement of national shipbuilding industry capabilities. The commitment was marked by the signing of a Non-Disclosure Agreement (NDA), which serves as the basis for PT PAL Indonesia and BRIN to exchange information, conduct technical discussions, and explore various research and development programmes requiring the protection of strategic information. PT PAL Indonesia Director of Technology and Risk Management Briljan Gazalba stated that mastering technology is key to strengthening the competitiveness of the national maritime industry. He noted that mastery of hydrodynamic technology plays an important role in improving the performance, efficiency, and reliability of maritime platforms, including underwater utilisation technology. Therefore, he said, collaboration with BRIN is a strategic step to strengthen the mastery of hydrodynamic technology and underwater systems while accelerating the emergence of innovations that enhance the competitiveness of national industry. Briljan added that the collaboration between PT PAL and BRIN reflects the implementation of the Triple Helix model, oriented towards creating sustainable innovation, increasing industrial competitiveness, and strengthening the national research and innovation ecosystem. Meanwhile, BRIN Deputy for Research and Innovation Infrastructure Dadan Moh Nurjaman assessed that the collaboration with PT PAL is part of efforts to strengthen the utilisation of national research results for the needs of strategic industries while supporting the realisation of Indonesia’s technological independence. Dadan said, ‘The synergy with PT PAL is expected to accelerate the development of competitive maritime technology and support the nation’s self-reliance.’
