KONAWE — An employee of PT Obsidian Stainless Steel (OSS) in Morosi District, Konawe Regency, Southeast Sulawesi, identified by the initials SN (31), suffered a workplace accident on Wednesday, 7 May 2025, at 09:10 local time. The accident resulted in the victim sustaining a permanent disability to his right foot.

The incident began when SN, who was assigned to the Conveyor Division, was carrying out routine cleaning. He slipped and fell into the panbelt area (a triangular rock-crushing belt), causing his right foot to become trapped and crushed up to the ankle. The victim, enduring severe pain, walked approximately 10 metres before receiving assistance from his colleagues.

The victim's wife, Esti (29), confirmed the incident. SN was initially treated at the OSS clinic before being referred to Bahteramas Hospital. Esti expressed her concern and hoped the company would take full responsibility for her husband's medical treatment until he recovers. "My husband is now disabled. I hope the company takes full responsibility until he recovers," she said.

The Head of the Southeast Sulawesi Provincial Manpower and Transmigration Office (Disnakertrans), La Ode Haswandy, stated that his office had received an initial report and that the supervisory team was investigating the sequence of events. However, the Head of the Labour Supervision and Occupational Health and Safety Division at the Southeast Sulawesi Disnakertrans, Asnia Nidi, gave a differing statement, saying the office had not yet received any report. PT OSS's public relations representative, Bahar, also claimed to be unaware of the incident.
