PT LEN Industry expects profit to triple

JAKARTA (JP): PT LEN Industry, the state-owned electronics manufacturing company, expects that its profit will triple to Rp 6 billion (US$2.55 million) this year from Rp 2 billion last year, Commercial Director Dody Hidayat Rivai said.

He said that the expected surge in profit would be supported by a 27.5 percent rise in the company's sales revenue to Rp 40 billion this year from Rp 29 billion last year, Antara reported Saturday.

He said that during the first 10 months of this year, the company gained Rp 30 billion in sales revenue.

The company, which is overseen by the Management Body for Strategic Industries, currently has total assets of Rp 70 billion, he said.

LEN Industry produces a variety of electronic components for several state-owned companies, including railway ticket vending machines for the state-owned railway company Perumka and postal machines for the state-owned postal service company PT Pos Indonesia.

It also produces X-ray machines for the Ministry of Transportation and builds television relay stations for state- owned Televisi Republik Indonesia (TVRI) as well as private broadcasters.

"Out of the 500 relay stations used by TVRI and other private stations, 80 percent have been installed by LEN Industry," Dody said.

He said LEN Industry also plans to install 10,000 solar home systems for customers in eastern provinces of the country next year.

So far, the company has installed 5,000 solar home systems for its customers in the country, he said.

In facing tight competition with other companies, LEN Industry is trying to improve the quality of its products and services by cooperating with major foreign companies, such as Westinghouse, General Electric and Motorola, all U.S. companies, Siemens of Germany, Holec of the Netherlands and Thompson of Britain.
