PT Kalla Inti Karsa Wins Four Indonesia Sustainability Awards

PT Kalla Inti Karsa (KIK), a commercial property business unit under Kalla Land & Property, has again achieved national recognition by winning four awards at the Indonesia Sustainability Award 2026 organised by First Indonesia Magazine. “We believe that sustainability is no longer an option, but the main foundation in building a business that is relevant and growing in the future,” said Kalla Land & Property Chief Executive Officer Ricky Theodores in a statement in Makassar on Friday. In the event, PT Kalla Inti Karsa won the Best ESG in Infrastructure & Property, Sustainable Innovation Award, Governance Integrity Award, and ESG Leadership Excellence Award. The awards were presented at an awards ceremony held in Jakarta on Thursday (18/6). “These four awards validate that the steps we are taking are in the right direction. Through various innovations and sustainable investments we have made, we want to prove that commercial property can deliver strong economic value while providing real and measurable benefits for the environment and society,” he said. He stated that the awards are recognition of PT Kalla Inti Karsa’s consistency in integrating Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) principles consistently across all of the company’s business operations. This commitment is realised through various ESG initiatives implemented at PT Kalla Inti Karsa’s business units, namely Mal Ratu Indah, Nipah Park, and Wisma Kalla. One of the company’s flagship programmes is the use of renewable energy through the installation of a Rooftop Solar Power Plant (PLTS Atap) at Nipah Park, which has been operational since March 2025. This programme contributes to electricity usage efficiency of up to 10 percent of the area’s total energy needs. Throughout its operation, it is capable of producing 419,663 kWh of clean energy per year and reducing carbon emissions by up to 331,533 kilogrammes of CO₂e per year. In addition, the company continues to promote energy efficiency through the implementation of a smart building system and the use of automatic sensors in the lighting system. These efforts have succeeded in reducing electricity consumption by 1.94 percent at Mal Ratu Indah and 5.74 percent at Nipah Park compared to the previous year. “These efforts not only reduce waste generation but also provide added economic value and benefits for the surrounding environment,” he added. As part of its commitment to responsible environmental management, PT Kalla Inti Karsa also implements a structured management system for Hazardous and Toxic Waste (B3) in accordance with applicable regulations. Through controlled identification, storage, and management processes, the company ensures that all B3 waste is handled safely to minimise risks to the environment and public health.
