PT KAI West Sumatra Supports IMLF 2026 by Welcoming Delegates from 36 Countries at BIM
Padang (ANTARA) - PT Kereta Api Indonesia Divisi Regional II West Sumatra is fully supporting the implementation of the 4th International Minangkabau Literacy Festival (IMLF) 2026 as part of the series of events commemorating the 100th anniversary of Jam Gadang.
The Head of KAI Divre II West Sumatra, Lutfi Wijaya, in Padang, Thursday, said that the presence of hundreds of delegates from various countries is an important moment to introduce local cultural wealth to the global level. He is committed to encouraging the regional tourism sector through strategic collaboration.
“KAI is ready to provide full support during the series of IMLF activities. This is a source of pride for West Sumatra,” he said.
As a form of service, KAI welcomes international delegates directly at the Minangkabau International Airport (BIM) station. This step aims to ensure the comfort of transportation for participants.
The festival, which will take place in June 2026, carries the theme “Jam Gadang, the Heartbeat of the Capital”. This activity is supported by the Satu Pena West Sumatra Foundation and is attended by approximately 250 delegates from 36 countries.
The series of events is divided into two parts, namely literacy from June 3-7, 2026, and arts, culture, and history from June 7-21, 2026. Participants will explore various aspects of Minangkabau customs.
Upon arrival at the BIM station, delegates are treated to a traditional welcoming ceremony, dances, and local cuisine. KAI also provides education about the history of railways in West Sumatra.
Delegates have the opportunity to take photos together on the Minangkabau Express train. This support was appreciated by the Mayor of Bukittinggi and the IMLF organizers.
The Ambassador of Bosnia and Herzegovina to Indonesia, Armin Limo, also praised the warm welcome. KAI reaffirmed its commitment to supporting international-scale activities.
This step is expected to boost economic and tourism growth in West Sumatra. The company continues to strive to improve services for domestic and foreign tourists.
This collaboration shows the strong partnership between institutions in the Minang region. The 100th Anniversary of Jam Gadang is projected to be a major attraction.
KAI Divre II West Sumatra hopes that the 4th IMLF will be successful and have a positive impact on the community. All regional elements are expected to work together to welcome delegates from friendly countries.
KAI continues to innovate its services to facilitate accessibility in West Sumatra.
“We hope that this contribution will increase the mobility of tourists to West Sumatra,” said Lutfi.
