PT KAI to Reactivate Comal and Plabuan Stations on the North Coast Route
PT Kereta Api Indonesia (KAI) will reactivate passenger boarding and alighting services at Comal Station (Pemalang) and Plabuan Station (Batang), Central Java. This is expected to facilitate residents’ mobility and strengthen connectivity in the Pantura region.
Manager of Public Relations for KAI’s Daop 4 Semarang, Luqman Arif, revealed that Comal and Plabuan Stations will begin operations on 27 April 2026. The Directorate General of Railways (DJKA) of the Ministry of Transportation conducted a thorough inspection (ramp check) at both stations on Thursday (16/4/2026). This was to ensure compliance with minimum service standards (SPM).
The inspection covered various aspects of safety and service, including the completeness of fire extinguishers, evacuation routes, assembly points, emergency contact information, health facilities such as first aid kits, wheelchairs, and stretchers, as well as supporting facilities like waiting rooms, toilets, prayer rooms, and train travel information systems.
Luqman stated that, in addition to reactivating Comal and Plabuan Stations, KAI has also decided to add train stops at Batang Station. This is expected to further support community mobility in the Pantura region.
“The reactivation of services at Plabuan and Comal Stations, along with the addition of stops at Batang Station, is a concrete step by KAI in providing closer and more efficient transportation access for the public. Customers can now easily travel to various cities such as Semarang, Tegal, Cirebon, Purwokerto, Yogyakarta, and Solo,” said Luqman on Sunday (19/4/2026).
He added that the reactivation of Comal and Plabuan Stations and the addition of train stops at Batang Station is the initial phase to assess the potential of service users in the Pantura region. “If public interest is high, KAI will consider adding services or other travel routes,” Luqman remarked.
