Jakarta (ANTARA) — PT KA Properti Manajemen (KAPM), a subsidiary of PT Kereta Api Indonesia (KAI), has been indicted for paying bribes totalling Rp1.36 billion to five civil servants (ASN) at the Ministry of Transportation.

Public prosecutor Fahmi Idris of the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) said the bribes were allegedly given so that KAPM would win the Java–Sumatra level-crossing works package for the 2022 fiscal year at the Directorate of Railway Infrastructure under the ministry’s Directorate General of Railways (DJKA).

“From that works package, the corporate defendant obtained an increase in assets amounting to Rp2.41 billion,” the prosecutor said while reading the indictment at the Corruption Court of the Central Jakarta District Court on Monday.

The prosecutor explained that the five ministry officials were Harno Trimadi, former Director of Railway Infrastructure at DJKA and Budget Authority Holder (KPA), and Fadliansyah, Commitment-Making Officer (PPK) IV at the same directorate, who together received a total of Rp1.12 billion in bribes.

Also implicated were Budi Prasetyo, head of the Procurement Working Group for the 2022 Java and Sumatra Level-Crossing Works; Hardho, secretary of the same working group; and Edi Purnomo, a member of the working group, who together received a total of Rp240 million.

The indictment states that the bribes were paid by KAPM through its former chief executive Yoseph Ibrahim together with former Vice President Parjono between 2022 and 2023.

For its actions, the PT KAI subsidiary faces criminal penalties under Article 5 paragraph (1) letters a or b, or Article 13 in conjunction with Article 18 of Law Number 31 of 1999 on the Eradication of Criminal Acts of Corruption as amended by Law Number 20 of 2001, in conjunction with Article 20 letter c and Article 126 paragraph (1) of the National Criminal Code.
