PT KAI Reveals Condition of Infant Found in Sancaka Train Toilet

The journey of the Sancaka 84B train from Yogyakarta to Surabaya was disrupted by the discovery of a tiny baby in the toilet. PT KAI officials immediately took action to ensure the infant’s condition remained stable. The incident occurred on Saturday (3/7) at around 07.20 WIB. Manager of Public Relations for KAI Operational Area 6 Yogyakarta, Feni Novida Saragih, stated that the baby was in good condition when found in the toilet. ‘The baby’s general condition was declared good. The KAI team then met the baby’s basic needs to ensure its condition remained good and well-maintained,’ Feni said in a statement on Saturday (3/7/2026). She explained that when the baby was discovered, the train was en route to Surabaya. The officer who found the baby immediately reported the finding to the Service Control Centre. ‘The onboard officer found a baby in the toilet of executive carriage 3. The finding was then reported to the Service Control Centre, which immediately coordinated with Solo Balapan Station,’ she explained. Feni said the baby was subsequently handed over to the Health Post at Solo Balapan Station. The Sancaka 84B train then continued its journey. ‘Subsequently, at the Solo Balapan Health Post, KAI officers conducted an observation by a doctor and midwife from the Mediska KAI Solo Clinic,’ she said. KAI Operational Area 6 then coordinated with the police. Feni emphasised that they are ready to assist in uncovering the identity of the mother or the person who left the baby. ‘The KAI team then coordinated with the Banjarsari Police. Currently, the baby is under the care of the police and Bhayangkara Hospital. KAI Operational Area 6 Yogyakarta will fully support the process required in handling this case according to applicable procedures,’ said Feni. ‘Coordination and investigation with the police are ongoing. KAI Operational Area 6 Yogyakarta will collaborate with the authorities and provide support as needed according to applicable procedures,’ she added.
