PT Kereta Api Indonesia (Persero) or PT KAI Daerah Operasi (Daop) 6 Yogyakarta has introduced a promotional programme titled “Silaturahmi” offering a 20 percent discount on executive class train tickets. Several trains passing through the Daop 6 Yogyakarta region that qualify for the discount include Argo Lawu and Argo Dwipangga on the Gambir–Solo Balapan route, Taksaka (Gambir–Yogyakarta), and Sancaka (Yogyakarta–Surabaya Gubeng). Additionally, the promotion applies to other trains such as Lodaya (Bandung–Solo Balapan), Bogowonto and Gajahwong (Pasarsenen–Lempuyangan), as well as supplementary services during the Eid al-Fitr period on various routes. The promotion is valid for ticket purchases from 25 March to 1 April 2026, with departure dates on the same period. Discounted tickets can be obtained through all official KAI sales channels, including the Access by KAI application. Manager of Public Relations for Daop 6 Yogyakarta, Feni Novida Saragih, stated that this policy is intended to encourage public mobility during the 2026 Eid al-Fitr return flow period while maintaining affordable transport fares. Furthermore, the programme is part of the company’s strategy to accommodate those who have not yet travelled home or wish to return after the Eid holiday. “Through the Silaturahmi promotion, KAI aims to provide convenience for the public to gather with family using safe, comfortable, and affordable transportation,” Feni told reporters on Wednesday, 25 March 2026. According to Feni, this discount policy not only offers a more economical travel alternative but also serves as an instrument to manage passenger distribution more evenly during the Eid transport period. Thus, congestion on certain dates can be reduced. Nevertheless, KAI has set several conditions. The discount does not apply to premium class services such as Suite Class Compartment, Luxury, Imperial, Priority, Panoramic, or other tourist trains. Additionally, the promotion cannot be combined with reduced fares or other discounts. “KAI continues to provide flexibility to customers, where promotional tickets can be cancelled or rescheduled according to applicable rules,” Feni explained. Information on schedules and seat availability can be accessed in real time through the Access by KAI application or KAI customer service. Feni added that KAI Daop 6 Yogyakarta ensures operational readiness during the Eid transport period, both in terms of facilities, infrastructure, and human resources. This step is crucial to maintain service quality amid high travel demand. “We urge the public to plan their trips promptly and take advantage of this promotion before tickets run out,” she said. Through this programme, KAI hopes to maintain a balance between increased transport demand during Eid and service capacity, while strengthening the role of trains as the primary choice for efficient and sustainable long-distance travel.
