PT KAI Daop 6 Yogyakarta Adds Additional Trains for Lebaran 2026 Holiday Rush as Passenger Numbers Surge
On day 5 of the 2026 Lebaran holiday travel period, Sunday (15 March), KAI Daop 6 Yogyakarta recorded 46,884 passengers on long-distance trains arriving at and departing from the Yogyakarta region. According to provisional data monitoring as of Sunday (15 March) at 09:00 WIB, 23,560 passengers arrived and 23,324 passengers departed. These figures remain dynamic as ticket sales for the 2026 Lebaran transport period continue until late evening.
Manager of Public Relations for KAI Daop 6 Yogyakarta Feni Novida Saragih stated that based on current data monitoring, 163,024 tickets remain available from the Yogyakarta region until the end of the Lebaran transport period on 1 April 2026. Ticket sales for the 2026 Lebaran period have reached 70% of the total capacity of 533,270 tickets, meaning 370,246 tickets have been sold from stations in the Yogyakarta region.
The six stations with the highest passenger arrival volumes as of Sunday (15 March) at 09:00 WIB were: Yogyakarta Station (10,053 passengers), Solobalapan Station (5,200 passengers), Lempuyangan Station (3,950 passengers), Klaten Station (2,946 passengers), Purwosari Station (1,106 passengers), and Wates Station (767 passengers).
The six stations with the highest departure volumes were: Yogyakarta Station (9,992 passengers), Lempuyangan Station (4,746 passengers), Solobalapan Station (4,505 passengers), Purwosari Station (1,162 passengers), Klaten Station (768 passengers), and Wates Station (480 passengers).
PT KAI Daop 6 Yogyakarta is adding one additional train service on the Solo Balapan-Gambir route to support smooth travel during the 2026 Lebaran holiday period. The additional train comprises one luxury carriage, four executive carriages, and three economy carriages, with a special 30% discount promotion for economy class passengers.
The additional train will operate from 15 to 31 March 2026. This addition represents KAI’s effort to accommodate the high demand for travel during the 2026 Lebaran transport period and demonstrates the company’s commitment to providing more travel options for the public.
The additional train Solo Balapan-Gambir (KA 10923) departs from Solo Balapan Station at 23:20 WIB and arrives at Gambir Station at 07:42 WIB the following day. The return service Solo Balapan-Gambir (KA 10960) departs from Gambir Station at 11:50 WIB and arrives at Solo Balapan Station at 20:32 WIB.
KAI urges the public to promptly book tickets through the Access by KAI application or other official sales channels to avoid running out of tickets and to ensure their holiday travel is well-planned and comfortable.
