PT Kereta Api Indonesia (KAI) has reminded all passengers and members of the public who will be travelling during the Lebaran 2026 exodus to comply with regulations regarding maximum baggage allowance. Luqman Arif, Manager of Public Relations for PT KAI Daop 4 Semarang, emphasised that each passenger is permitted to carry a maximum of 20 kilograms with a maximum volume of 100 cubic decimetres, with dimensions not exceeding 70 x 48 x 30 centimetres.

“With this capacity, passengers are also limited to a maximum of four items to ensure that baggage is not excessive,” stated Luqman in an official statement on Saturday, 14 March 2026.

For passengers carrying baggage exceeding the stipulated limits, PT KAI will charge additional fees according to the train service class. Baggage may be placed on racks above seating areas or other locations that do not compromise passenger comfort or safety. However, items with a volume exceeding 200 cubic decimetres (dimensions 70 x 48 x 60 centimetres) are not permitted inside train cabins.

PT KAI has also reminded passengers that certain items are prohibited from being carried on train journeys. During the Lebaran 2026 exodus period, KAI Daop 4 Semarang urged passengers to be more careful and vigilant in safeguarding their personal belongings.

On Saturday, 14 March, a total of 5,134 passengers used the railway service at Tegal Station, with 1,222 passengers boarding and 3,912 passengers alighting. The number of passengers departing from Tegal Station from Wednesday, 11 March through to the reporting date totalled 5,541, while passengers arriving during the same period numbered 12,906.

“Passengers are predominantly travelling to Jakarta, Surabaya, and Solo. The most popular long-distance trains departing from Tegal Station are KA Tegal Bahari, KA Airlangga, and KA Kertajaya,” explained Luqman.

Members of the public wishing to travel by train may purchase tickets through all official KAI sales channels, including the Access by KAI application, the kai.id website, and other authorised sales partners. Should desired train tickets be sold out, passengers may select alternative departure dates or utilise the connecting train feature available in the Access by KAI application, which combines interconnected train schedules.

Throughout the Lebaran 2026 transport period, KAI Daop 4 Semarang operates 36 long-distance trains daily, comprising 34 regular long-distance services and 2 additional long-distance services. “The total seating capacity provided daily is 21,128 seats,” concluded Luqman.
