PT KAI Apologises and Provides Latest Update on Lost Goods from Train Incident
PT Kereta Api Indonesia (Persero) has revealed that items found by evacuation personnel on the Commuter Line No. 5568A series have been handed over to Passenger Service officers at Bekasi Timur Station for cataloguing and safekeeping. PT KAI urges users, families, or relatives who believe they have lost items to visit Bekasi Timur Station directly and contact the Lost and Found service for the retrieval process. According to PT KAI’s Vice President of Corporate Communication, Anne Purba, as of today, Thursday (30 April 2026) at 08:30 WIB, a total of 85 items have been found. “Of that number, 38 items have been handed over to their owners, while the remaining 47 are still in the process of being returned,” Anne stated in her remarks. “For further information, customers can contact PT KAI’s Contact Centre at 121, the Access by KAI application, or official PT KAI social media,” she added. Anne further stated that PT KAI ensures every stage of recovery is carried out carefully and measured to ensure train journeys operate safely. “PT KAI continues to ensure services can resume properly while fulfilling customer rights,” she said. “We apologise for the inconvenience experienced by customers. During this recovery process, we ask for understanding if journeys still experience delays. PT KAI continues to strive for services to run smoothly and customer rights to be fulfilled,” Anne remarked. Potential Train Journey Delays On the other hand, Anne revealed that during the operational adjustment period, train journeys may still experience slight delays. “PT KAI states that as of today, Thursday (30 April 2026), all Long-Distance Train (KA JJ) services are operating normally without any cancellations. The service recovery process continues to progress positively,” she explained. “PT KAI continues to make gradual operational adjustments, prioritising safety and journey smoothness,” Anne emphasised. As is known, the PLB 5568A long-distance train (CL KPB-CKR) was struck by PLB 4B (KA Argo Bromo Anggrek on the Gambir-Surabaya Pasar Turi route) at Bekasi Timur Station on Monday (27 April 2026). This tragic incident resulted in 16 deaths and 91 injuries. As of Wednesday (29 April 2026), 43 injured passengers have been allowed to go home. The other injured victims are still receiving treatment in hospital.
