PT KAI and Police Evacuate Train Collision in East Bekasi
PT Kereta Api Indonesia (KAI) states that it is currently conducting the evacuation of the train carriages and handling of victims from the train accident at Bekasi Timur Station. The accident occurred on Monday (27/4) at 20:52 WIB. In a release from PT KAI, it was stated that the electric rail train numbered PLB 5568A was struck by the Argo Bromo Anggrek train. “At this time, PT KAI together with the police are carrying out the evacuation process for the train carriages and handling of victims at the incident site. We are striving as much as possible to ensure that train operations can return to normal as soon as possible,” said Manager of Public Relations for KAI Daop1 Jakarta, Franoto Wibowo. In addition to the police, according to CNNIndonesia TV journalist Erik Kustara, rescue personnel, internal security, and paramedics are already at the location and are working to evacuate passengers around 21:50 WIB. Security personnel also dispersed nearby residents to allow the evacuation to proceed smoothly. KAI assures that field personnel have moved quickly to handle and secure the location, as well as coordinate with relevant parties to accelerate the evacuation process and restoration of services. As a safety measure, the overhead power supply (LAA) on the Cibitung-Bekasi Timur line and the Bekasi Timur platform has been temporarily deactivated. To date, the cause of the incident and the number of affected train services are still under investigation. Based on a report from Transmedia journalist Erik Kustara in a live broadcast on CNNIndonesia TV, the women’s carriage at the rear of the KRL train was seen crumpled after being hit by the locomotive of the long-distance Argo Bromo Anggrek train at the station.
