PT Jakpro Begins Testing and Commissioning for Jakarta LRT Phase 1B Rail System
PT Jakarta Propertindo (Jakpro) has begun a series of testing and commissioning (T&C) trials for the Jakarta LRT Phase 1B rail system on the Velodrome-Manggarai route in Jakarta, on Thursday (30/4/2026). The T&C phase is conducted in detail to ensure the entire system is fully ready for public use.
“This T&C phase is being carried out in detail to ensure that all technical aspects of the Jakarta LRT Phase 1B are truly ready and safe for eventual use by the public in their daily mobility,” said Jakpro Director Iwan Takwin in Jakarta on Thursday.
According to Iwan, T&C is an indispensable stage in the development of modern rail systems. The process encompasses a series of systematic and structured tests on all components and subsystems before commercial operations begin, from tracks, signalling, electrical systems, communications, to operational integration.
“Every metre of the elevated LRT Jakarta Phase 1B track is our responsibility to the people of DKI Jakarta who will rely on the LRT every day. This T&C phase must be prepared very thoroughly,” said Iwan.
He explained that behind every technical process underway is Jakpro’s strong commitment to completing the construction of Jakarta LRT Phase 1B as quickly as possible. This step is taken without compromising any aspect of safety, quality, and service reliability.
Once operational commercially, said Iwan, the addition of the Jakarta LRT Phase 1B route is projected to carry tens of thousands of passengers every day and contribute directly to reducing traffic density. He stated that the presence of this new corridor will also strengthen inter-regional connectivity and public transport integration in Jakarta.
Iwan mentioned that this aligns with the directives of Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung Wibowo, who wants the development of Jakarta LRT Phase 1B to be directed towards supporting the fulfilment of Jakarta’s indicators. This follows Jakarta’s designation as a modern, advanced, sustainable, and livable global city.
The project, said Iwan, is an important part in presenting a more connected urban space, easier mobility, and better urban environmental quality. Jakarta LRT Phase 1B, he added, is not just an infrastructure project, and its presence is a manifestation of the collective determination of the community and the DKI Provincial Government to realise a more advanced and competitive city.
“Jakpro is committed to ensuring that all technical, safety, and operational aspects of the Jakarta LRT system meet the highest standards before entering the commercial service phase,” said Iwan.
