PT IPC TPK and LAZISKU Distribute Zakat to North Jakarta Community
Jakarta — The Islamic Preaching Development Centre of PT Indonesia Port Corporation Terminal Peti Kemas, working with the Kemandirian Umat Islamic Zakat, Infaq and Sedakah Institution (LAZISKU), distributed employee zakat contributions as part of the company’s social responsibility programme to communities in North Jakarta.
Yanuar Eviyanto, Director of Finance, Human Resources and Risk Management at PT IPC TPK, stated that the employee zakat distribution represents a routine corporate agenda.
“We selected LAZISKU as our distribution partner to ensure employee zakat reaches its intended beneficiaries fairly and precisely. We seek prayers that all PT IPC TPK employees remain blessed with health and enthusiasm in their work,” Yanuar said in a statement in Jakarta on Saturday.
The activity took place at Al Ihsan Mosque, IPC TPK, North Jakarta, and targeted 160 beneficiaries comprising the poor, vulnerable populations, and those in Allah’s cause within PT IPC TPK’s operational area, covering Tanjung Priok, Koja, and Cilincing subdistricts. Beneficiaries received assistance in the form of food packages and cash.
Similarly, A. Hakam Naja, Chairman of the Central Management Board of LAZISKU, emphasised that zakat is a crucial instrument for welfare and economic equity.
He hoped this inaugural collaboration with IPC TPK would develop into a sustainable empowerment programme.
“The primary function of zakat is as a welfare element. Going forward, we encourage beneficiaries to develop economic enterprises, whether as traders, online motorcycle taxi drivers, or urban farmers connected to markets. We want this collaboration to be more than temporary, but capable of empowering the community’s economy in the long term,” Hakam Naja stated.
The zakat distribution activity was also attended by A. Hakam Naja, Chairman of LAZISKU’s Central Management Board; A. Toha Almansur, Director of Fundraising; Farida Aini, Director of Distribution; and Hilda Mataris, Director of Finance at LAZISKU, as well as Yanuar Eviyanto and Agus Fazri, Chairman of IPC TPK’s Islamic Preaching Development Centre.
The programme is expected not only to purify employees’ wealth but also to strengthen social solidarity and deliver tangible impact towards improving the living standards of communities in the company’s operational area, particularly as Ramadan approaches.
