Madiun (ANTARA) - State-owned train manufacturer PT Industri Kereta Api, or PT INKA (Persero), has again shipped two locomotive platforms to UGL RS Pty Limited in Australia via the Surabaya Container Terminal in East Java, reinforcing its role in the international market.

PT INKA Commissioner Sangap Surbakti stated in Madiun on Saturday that the two locomotive platforms are the 17th and 18th units from a total contract for the procurement of 50 locomotive platforms signed in 2021, with a contract value exceeding Rp100 billion.

“This shipment is a significant achievement for INKA as it demonstrates that national railway manufacturing products are not only used in Indonesia but are also accepted in the international market. We express our appreciation to all stakeholders who have supported the smooth process of this shipment and to all INKA personnel,” he said.

According to him, the export confirms the sustainability of INKA’s expansion in the international market, particularly in Australia and New Zealand. To date, INKA has shipped more than 1,000 freight wagons and over a dozen locomotive platforms to support railway transportation needs in both countries.

Through the execution of this contract, INKA continues to strengthen the capacity and competitiveness of the national railway industry in meeting global customer standards and needs, while expanding the contribution of Indonesian manufactured products in the international market.

As a state-owned enterprise engaged in export activities, INKA not only carries the company’s interests but also the name and reputation of Indonesia in the international market. He emphasised that such support is crucial for Indonesian companies to fulfil global customer commitments and become more competitive internationally.
