PT INKA accelerates completion of 612 passenger trainsets ordered by PT KAI
Madiun, East Java — PT Industri Kereta Api (PT INKA Persero) is speeding up the completion of the 612 passenger trainset procurement for PT Kereta Api Indonesia (PT KAI Persero) with a target completion in 2026. The Development Director of PT INKA (Persero), Roppiq Lutzhfi Azhar, in Madiun, East Java, on Friday, stated that the procurement of hundreds of passenger trains began in 2023 with a contract value around Rp5.8 trillion. ‘To date, we have delivered 37 trainsets, each trainset consisting of 11 cars, and some have already begun operating since 2023,’ he told reporters. According to Roppiq, in terms of design, the passenger cars are a new generation; the design is final, with no further changes or improvements. He explained that the production of this new-generation trainset by PT INKA Persero represents the dedication and hard work of the nation in delivering the best trains for mass transportation that are safe, comfortable and smooth. While production is being accelerated, INKA still faces challenges in the supply chain of materials and production components, due to the current global geopolitical conditions. ‘With the geopolitical conditions as they are now, for example the warfare, several component supply chains are disrupted,’ he said.
