PT Indobuildco Urges Government Not to Force Execution of Sultan Hotel, Why?

JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - Hamdan Zoelva, the legal representative of PT Indobuildco, the operator of Hotel Sultan, has spoken out regarding the government’s plan to execute the eviction of the Hotel Sultan land in the Gelora Bung Karno (GBK) area, Central Jakarta, in the near future.

Hamdan believes that the execution plan should not be forced and must be carried out with great caution.

“The issuance of the execution determination should not be interpreted as if all legal issues have been resolved. The legal processes related to the Hotel Sultan area are still ongoing,” Hamdan told Kompas.com when contacted via text message on Friday (8/5/2026).

In addition to legal channels, the resolution of the case remains open through negotiation and mediation.

Hamdan explained that in Determination Number 208 of 2025 issued by the Central Jakarta District Court, there is indeed an order to vacate the Hotel Sultan area.

However, the panel of judges in their considerations explicitly stated the importance of a fair resolution through negotiation and reconciliation.

Therefore, Hamdan believes that the execution should be postponed because the negotiation and mediation processes are still underway.

“If the negotiation and mediation processes are ongoing, especially if reconciliation is about to be achieved, then the execution should not be forced,” he stated.

Previously, on 30 April 2026, the Central Jakarta District Court determined the implementation of the eviction execution for Block 15 in the GBK area, which is the Hotel Sultan site.

That determination granted the request for the implementation of the eviction execution for Block 15 submitted by the State Secretary and the GBK PPP Unit through their legal representatives.

“The Central Jakarta District Court assessed that the request for the implementation of the eviction execution was in accordance with the law and therefore issued the determination for the implementation of the eviction execution,” said Kharis Sucipto, the legal representative of the State Secretary and the GBK PPP Unit, in a press statement from the GBK PPP Unit confirmed by Kompas.com on Monday (4/5/2026).

The Central Jakarta District Court determination serves as the legal basis for the State Secretariat and the GBK PPP Unit to vacate the land and buildings in the Hotel Sultan area.

Furthermore, according to him, the government’s legal position is now very strong and is not affected by other administrative legal efforts.
