Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia - BPI Danantara has confirmed that PT Danantara Sumberdaya Indonesia (PT DSI) has officially become a state-owned enterprise (SOE). The SOE will serve as the single-point export manager for commodities including coal, palm oil, and ferroalloys.

In response, the Indonesian Mining Association (API-IMA) has highlighted the need for clearer guidelines during the transition of strategic natural resource export governance policies.

“Clarity is needed to ensure that crucial negotiation processes for companies can continue for business sustainability and market stability,” said API-IMA Executive Director Sari Esayanti in a press release on Monday (25/5/2026).

As a vital sector supporting the national economy, the mining industry requires certainty in reporting and involvement from the Directorate General of Minerals and Coal at the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM).

IMA also stressed the importance of respecting existing long-term contracts, including short-term sales.

“Industry players rely on clarity and consistency in contracts to maintain business continuity and existing investments,” Esayanti explained.

It is known that PT DSI has officially become an SOE. The status change was announced on the official Instagram account of BPI Danantara CEO Rosan P Roeslani @rosanroeslani. The signing was carried out by Danantara CEO Rosan, Danantara CIO Pandu Sjahrir, and Danantara COO Dony Oskaria.

In his Instagram post, Rosan stated that the establishment of the special export SOE, PT DSI, aims to enhance transaction transparency.

“Our presence is also intended to further refine, particularly in addressing potential export data distortions that may have occurred previously,” he said, quoted on Monday (25/5/2026).

Previously, Rosan stated that Luke Thomas Mahony was appointed as President Director of PT Danantara Sumberdaya Indonesia (DSI).

Rosan noted Thomas’s experience at PT Vale Indonesia Tbk and his long tenure in trade, deeming him competent to lead PT DSI.

He also noted Thomas’s long stay in Indonesia. “We considered various factors, including his track record, his prior experience at multinational company Vale, and his ability to speak Indonesian, as his wife is Indonesian,” Rosan said at the Presidential Palace Complex on Friday (22/5/2026).

“But the most important factor is his trading experience, mineral expertise, leadership roles in various mineral companies, strong networking, and his excellent performance at Danantara so far,” he added.
