PT DSI to Act as Sole Export Intermediary for Three Commodities Until 31 December 2026
The Chief Operating Officer (COO) of the Danantara Investment Management Agency (BPI), Dony Oskaria, has confirmed that PT Danantara Sumberdaya Indonesia (PT DSI) will serve as the sole intermediary for the export of three key commodities: coal, palm oil, and ferroalloys. This implementation follows the issuance of Government Regulation (PP) Number 24 of 202int6 regarding the Governance of Strategic Natural Resource Commodity Exports, which was officially signed by President Prabowo Subianto on 20 May 2026.
Dony explained that for the period from June to 31 December, DSI will operate as the sole intermediary for these export activities. “Our task is to ensure that under-invoicing and transfer pricing do not occur in the export of our natural resources. We will conduct this transparently and accountably,” Dony stated during a press conference at the DPR Building on Monday (8/6/2026).
Crucially, the appointment of DSI as the sole intermediary will not disrupt existing contracts. Companies involved in these three commodities will continue to honour their current agreements, provided that no under-invoicing or transfer pricing occurs. Danantara is currently developing a digital system to ensure all natural resource transactions are conducted fairly and transparently. Dony noted that there is no cause for concern as contracts will proceed normally while the agency seeks to establish more efficient patterns after 31 December 2026.
Under the new regulation, strategic natural resource commodities are defined as those determined by the Government based on national interest, economic stability, and domestic needs. For the initial phase, these include coal, palm oil, and ferroalloys. The regulation stipulates that these commodities can only be exported by designated Export State-Owned Enterprises (BUMN Ekspor), either as owners or as sole intermediaries. Furthermore, the regulation allows for exceptions for businesses that hold agreements with the Government involving investment, divestment, and domestic processing or refining.
