JAKARTA – DPR Commission VI member Firnando Ganinduto has cautioned that the operations of PT Danantara Sumberdaya Indonesia (PT DSI), set to commence on 1 June 2026, should not hinder natural resource exports. He stressed that the new state-owned enterprise (BUMN) must strengthen export governance, not slow down existing processes. “The implementation of PT DSI must streamline business processes and avoid creating new bureaucratic layers that could impede export operations or add administrative burdens for businesses,” Firnando stated on Monday (1/6/2026). According to Firnando, PT DSI will initially manage exports of three strategic commodities: coal, crude palm oil (CPO), and ferro alloy. He believes the establishment of PT DSI aims to strengthen national economic sovereignty through improved export governance. However, strict oversight is necessary to prevent fraudulent practices that could harm the nation. “The success of this policy hinges on effective on-ground oversight to eliminate illegal exports and activities outside government-established mechanisms,” Firnando said. “All available legal sanctions must be applied proportionately to deter misconduct, ensure legal certainty, and foster a fair and healthy business environment for compliant enterprises,” he added. Firnando also assured that DPR Commission VI, which oversees state-owned enterprises, will monitor PT DSI’s performance to ensure it operates effectively, professionally, and accountably. “This oversight will include export governance effectiveness, contributions to national revenue through BUMNs, and the implementation of government directives on placing foreign exchange earnings from natural resource exports into state-owned banks,” he concluded. Previously reported, Danantara Indonesia’s Chief Operating Officer (COO) Dony Oskaria pledged that PT Danantara Sumber Daya Indonesia (PT DSI) would operate transparently with good governance. During the initial transition phase, the company will receive reports from exporters regarding their export activities.
