PT Djarum Speaks Out After KPK Searches Its Office
PT Djarum has spoken out after the KPK searched its office, saying it respects the legal process.
“We respect the legal process,” Budi Darmawan, Corporate Communication Manager at PT Djarum, said when contacted on Friday (30 October 2026).
The KPK searched PT Djarum’s office on Wednesday (28 October). The search was conducted alongside one at the Kudus Customs and Excise Supervision and Service Office (KPPBC TMC).
The searches followed the KPK’s issuance of a new investigation warrant in an expanded case involving the Directorate General of Customs and Excise at the Finance Ministry. The new investigation focuses on alleged irregularities in the processing of cigarette excise stamps.
The investigation has uncovered suspicions that the excise-stamp process caused state losses of up to trillions of rupiah. During the searches, the KPK seized documents and electronic evidence.
“This relates to alleged corruption involving state revenue. In other words, it concerns losses to state finances under Articles 2 and 3, or Articles 603 and 604 of the Criminal Code, in relation to excise,” KPK spokesman Budi Prasetyo said at the commission’s headquarters in Kuningan, South Jakarta, on Thursday (29 October).
“The initial estimate of state losses is in the trillions,” he added.
On Thursday (29 October), the KPK also searched other locations in Kudus, including six companies suspected of being affiliated with PT Djarum.
Investigators seized documents and electronic devices from the six companies and are analysing the material.
