PT Bali Turtle Island Development (BTID) has denied that the land swap process for the mangrove forest area was conducted illicitly. The denial was conveyed by PT BTID’s Head of Legal, Yossy Sulistyorini, during a Hearing with the Bali DPRD on Monday (11/5/2026). “We reiterate, as we have stated on several occasions including today, the forest area swap process we carried out was not bogus,” said Yossy. Yossy explained that the implementation of the land swap complied with applicable laws and regulations and met the requirements from the Ministry of Forestry. “And we can prove it with various existing documents, including verifications and involvement of relevant agencies. So it is clearly not bogus,” she clarified. However, the Chairman of the DPRD Bali’s Special Committee on Spatial Planning, Assets, and Permits (TRAP), I Made Suparta, insisted that the land swap was indeed bogus. According to him, during the hearing, PT BTID did not show any certificate documents in the company’s name to the council. “Then we checked the field and it turned out to be empty, bogus,” he asserted. Suparta assessed that the discussion in the hearing had sufficiently explained that the land swap process was indicated to be bogus. He asked PT BTID to stop defending it. “Let’s not delve deeper; this is all clear, we will recommend later the special committee will recommend,” said the PDIP politician. The hearing lasted nearly four hours. In the meeting, several other matters were also discussed, from the employment system at PT BTID to the involvement of the Serangan community in the development of the Kura Kura Bali Special Economic Zone. “Economy is important, but social issues are even more important, and environmental issues are even more important,” Suparta emphasised.
