PT Blueray Cargo Import Bribery Case: Seven Customs Officials Summoned as Witnesses
Public Prosecutors presented seven witnesses from the Directorate General of Customs and Excise (DJBC) during the trial for alleged import management bribery involving the defendant, John Field, the owner of PT Blueray Cargo. The hearing took place at the Jakarta Corruption Court on Wednesday (3/6).
The seven witnesses, comprising officials and employees from various directorates within the DJBC—including intelligence, enforcement, and internal compliance departments—were called to provide testimony. Their presence aims to investigate the flow of funds and the oversight mechanisms allegedly compromised by the defendant.
In this case, John Field is indicted alongside the Import Documentation Team Leader, Andri (AND), and Operational Manager, Dedy Kurniawan (DK). They are accused of providing bribes to several Customs officials amounting to a total of Rp63.1 billion. Prosecutors revealed that the bribes were delivered in the form of Rp61.3 billion in cash (denominated in Singapore Dollars), as well as entertainment facilities and luxury goods valued at Rp1.84 billion. “The purpose of these payments was to ensure that imported goods belonging to the Blueray Cargo Group could exit the customs supervision process more quickly,” the prosecutor stated during the trial.
The defendants are charged with violating Article 605, Paragraph (1) letter a in conjunction with Article 606, Paragraph (1) of Law Number 1 of 2023 regarding the Criminal Code, as well as Law Number 1 of 2026 regarding Criminal Adjustment.
The trial continues to investigate the specific role of each witness and the extent to which these bribes influenced the integrity of Indonesia’s import supervision system. This case follows the Corruption Eradication Commission’s (KPK) investigation into the import of counterfeit goods involving PT Blueray Cargo and the Directorate General of Customs and Excise.
