PT BKA Distributes Health and Education Aid in Motui, North Konawe Through PPM Programme
Kendari (ANTARA) — PT Bumi Konawe Abadi (BKA) has delivered health and education assistance through its Community Development and Empowerment (PPM) programme, in the form of one ambulance and 608 school uniforms for residents of Motui District, North Konawe (Konut), Southeast Sulawesi.
PT BKA Site Manager Rudijanto, speaking in Konut on Thursday, said the assistance reflects the company’s ongoing commitment and social responsibility in supporting the welfare and progress of communities living around its mining operations.
“As an IUP (mining business permit) holder, one focus of PT BKA’s PPM programme is the health and education sectors. After mapping the area, we found that the priority needs of communities in Motui District, which has two community health centres — Matandahi and Motui — are health support facilities, specifically an ambulance,” Rudijanto said.
He noted that PT BKA’s community care programme will not stop at the handover of the ambulance. Going forward, the company has prepared follow-up programmes covering other health facilities and infrastructure, including education and efforts to prevent environmental impacts.
PT BKA’s concrete steps received positive appreciation from the North Konawe district government and the North Konawe police (Polres).
North Konawe Police Chief AKBP Rico Fernanda expressed appreciation for the company’s active contribution to supporting the welfare of Motui residents, describing BKA’s move as a genuine act of care with a direct impact on the community.
Rico also urged residents and the company to maintain synergy and security conducive to the area’s stability.
“My hope is that the company and the community continue to collaborate. The company brings benefits and opens up jobs to boost the economy, whilst the community keeps the situation conducive so that company operations run smoothly,” he said.
Similar support came from the head of the North Konawe Education and Culture Office (Dikbud), Asmadin, who said the school equipment assistance from PT BKA would greatly help improve the quality of human resources in North Konawe.
“On behalf of the North Konawe local government, we express our thanks. PT BKA’s support shows that the education sector is receiving serious attention. We hope PT BKA can become a pilot project or example for other mining companies in North Konawe to also allocate their PPM programmes to improving human resources and educational facilities,” Asmadin said.
Meanwhile, the head of the North Konawe Health Office (Dinkes), Askam, emphasised the importance of the new ambulance in making medical services more accessible for the residents of Motui and its surrounding areas.
