PT BIJB Denies Viral US Flag Photo at Kertajati Airport as Hoax

Majalengka – A photo showing the US flag flying in front of West Java International Airport (BIJB) Kertajati in Majalengka Regency has circulated on social media and WhatsApp groups. The circulating image was accompanied by a caption claiming ‘Kertajati Airport RI Officially Owned by US Military and Turned into a Workshop, US Flag Raised’. The source of the photo remains unclear, but BIJB Kertajati has denied the image, labelling it a hoax. ‘There is no US flag at Kertajati Airport,’ stated PT BIJB Corporate Secretary Imam Rasyidin to Republika on Friday, 29 May 2026. Imam also provided a recent BIJB photo dated 29 May 2026, which showed no US flag at the same location as the hoax image. He clarified that formal discussions with the Indonesian Ministry of Defence (Kemenhan) pertain to maintenance, repair, and overhaul (MRO) cooperation, not exclusively for US aircraft but also for Indonesian Air Force (TNI AU) and other military branches, as well as commercial planes. ‘As the operator of the airport owned by the West Java Provincial Government, we will adhere to the policies set by the provincial government as the shareholder,’ Imam said.
